Privacy Policy

1. Who is responsible for your data

Simple-Fi is operated as a personal finance tool for freelancers. The data controller under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is the operator of this application. For privacy inquiries, please contact: privacy@simple-fi.org

2. What personal data we collect and why

We collect only the data you choose to enter into the app: • Financial figures: transaction amounts, dates, categories, and descriptions • Invoice details: amounts, due dates, and invoice numbers • Client information: names and, if you choose to add them, email addresses and phone numbers • Project and goal names and values • Bank account names and balances • Account preferences: your chosen currency, language, and display settings (stored locally in your browser) This data is collected solely to provide you with the Simple-Fi financial dashboard. We do not collect it for any other purpose.

3. How your data is used

Your data is used exclusively to power your personal financial dashboard. It is never: • Sold to third parties • Shared with advertisers • Used for profiling or targeted advertising • Used for any purpose other than delivering the Simple-Fi service to you All financial figures shown in the Forecast and Tax sections are estimates calculated from your own data. They are for planning purposes only and do not constitute professional financial or tax advice.

4. How long we keep your data

Your data is kept for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account via Settings → Delete Account, all your data — transactions, invoices, clients, projects, goals, categories, and bank accounts — is permanently deleted within 30 days of your request. Deletion initiated from within the app is immediate and irreversible.

5. Where your data is stored

Data is stored on Base44's secure infrastructure. Base44 is SOC 2 Type II and ISO 27001 certified and maintains GDPR compliance standards. Data may be stored outside the European Union, but appropriate legal safeguards (such as Standard Contractual Clauses) are in place to ensure your data is protected to European standards wherever it is held. Your data is never sold to third parties.

6. Cookies and local storage

Simple-Fi does not use tracking cookies. No third-party analytics or advertising trackers are used. We use browser local storage (not cookies) solely to remember your in-app preferences: dark mode setting, language selection, currency preference, and privacy consent acknowledgment. This data never leaves your device and is never transmitted to any server.

7. Your rights under GDPR

As a user based in or interacting with the European Economic Area, you have the following rights: • Right of access — You can request a copy of the data we hold about you at any time by using the "Download your data" feature in Settings. • Right to rectification — You can correct or update your data at any time within the app. • Right to erasure ("right to be forgotten") — You can permanently delete all your data via Settings → Delete Account. • Right to restriction — You can request that we limit how we process your data. • Right to data portability — Your data can be downloaded at any time in machine-readable JSON format from Settings. • Right to object — You can object to any processing of your personal data. • Right to withdraw consent — You can withdraw your consent to our privacy notice at any time by deleting your account. • Right to lodge a complaint — If you believe we have handled your data unlawfully, you have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection authority, such as the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) in the UK or your local supervisory authority in the EU. 8. Data minimisation

We collect only what is necessary for the app to function. Client contact fields (email, phone) are entirely optional. Transaction notes and descriptions are optional. We never require government identification, payment card details, or sensitive personal data of any kind.

9. Security

Your data is stored on certified, encrypted infrastructure. Access to your data is controlled by your account credentials. We recommend using a strong, unique password and logging out of the app when using shared devices. The app includes an automatic session timeout after 30 minutes of inactivity to protect your data on unattended devices.
